The Masquerade

Sad Cypress by Agatha Christie is a novel of detective fiction. “The human face is, after all, nothing more nor less than a mask” (Christie, 1940). We are all taught not to lie, to be truthful, to be open. But in the midst of dispute, will one stay truthful? Or will one put on a mask?
